Spirit Dream II: The Owl of Minerva

Spirit Dream II: The Owl of Minerva by Joy Rolle is the sequel to Spirit Dream, in which Noah, Rose, her baby Hannah, and twelve other runaway slaves find freedom in Dawn, Canada, a community of other escaped slaves. Noah, Rose, baby Hannah and the other twelve runways embrace their new freedom in the Dawn settlement, where Noah’s dream for a school is fulfilled. The newcomers soon discover that some of their Wyandot friends escaped to a hidden settlement close by, and escaped slaves from Kentucky finally join their friends at Dawn.

Not all the runaways’ neighbors are welcoming, however, and tensions run high when a man named Smitty stirs up trouble in Dawn. Rose becomes closer to her spirit owl, the Owl of Minerva, which saves the lives of many as the runaways face more danger from strange, wild, human-like creatures who are determined to kill everyone in the settlement, especially Rose.

This historical novel is a softcover with approximately 200 black and white pages. Cover art by Joy Rolle.
